Super Bowl Odds And Payouts
We’re just a few days away from Super Bowl 55, and if you’re the gambling sort, there will be plenty to throw some money down on.
Of course that includes the spread — if the Kansas City Chiefs will win by a certain margin or if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can lose by less that margin or just win outright — the over/under (how many total points there will be) and the moneylines (a straight-up bet that results in a payout that depends on the number of the moneyline).
We looked at these way back on Jan. 25 — here’s an update with four days before the big game.
- Payoff odds on a club “to win the Super Bowl” (or specifically the next Lombardi Trophy) are usually generous – even the Kansas City Chiefs often come with a (+500) futures line or 5-to-1 odds, or longer. But the wagered team can’t simply win a playoff game or a bunch of games and pay-off the bet.
- Many fans would be keen to use risk-free bet offers for a free shot at the Super Bowl winner at advantageous odds. For instance, if you bet on the Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl before they signed Tom Brady you would get odds near +3000. These are extremely strong odds and gives your bet of $500 the chance to turn into $15,500.

Spread: Chiefs -3.5
The odds for each pick are multiplied by one another to determine the odds for the Parlay. For example, New England at -150 odds, parlayed with New York at +200 odds, would result in +400 odds. Wager $20 on the above two picks, see New England and New York BOTH win. A wager such as Super Bowl Champions or MVP will have money options listed, whether it be all 32 teams or 30-50 of the league’s biggest stars. Each option will have odds listed next to it. Betting Super Bowl odds on the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat as champions at +550 means a $100 wager returns $550.
This line opened at Chiefs -3.5, moved down to Chiefs -3 and has apparently moved again. That probably tells me there was enough money coming in on Kansas City that it had to move a little.
I think I’d still bet on the Chiefs here to win by at least four, but that line could be exactly where bettors are split. And that’s the idea!
Over/Under: 56.5
This is the same as it was a couple of weeks ago. This assumes a high-scoring affair, and that seems about right with Patrick Mahomes under center and a Bucs’ offense that could be trying to play catch-up.
Moneylines: Chiefs -165, Buccaneers +140
A slight amount of movement here — it opened at Chiefs -160 and Bucs +135.
