One of the biggest enigmas in all of poker, Tom Dwan
is finally making his long-awaited return to televised poker. When the new season of “Poker After Dark” premieres, Dwan will be playing on the first three episodes starting on Monday, August 14. So who is Tom Dwan, anyway?
At only 31 years old, Dwan has accomplished more than many players do in a lifetime. Dwan first reached notoriety in the late-2000’s when he would regularly go through multi-million dollar swings on Full Tilt Poker playing no limit hold’em and pot limit Omaha at the highest stakes available. Dwan feared no one and would take on all comers resulting in the start of the “Durrrr Challenge” where he faced off against the likes of Patrik Antonius and Daniel Cates. While neither of the matches every finished, both still garner attention to this day.
Even at 21, Dwan was already on the path to greatness as evidenced by his final table finish in the WPT World Poker Finals Main Event at Foxwoods in November 2007.
Dwan may have built his bankroll in online cash games but he is remembered best for his appearances on the former version of “Poker After Dark” and “High Stakes Poker” where his aggressive play made for glorious viewing.
A YouTube search featuring Dwan’s name pulls pages of six-figure pots that he was often on the right side of as his legend grew among professionals and fans alike.

Following Black Friday and the subsequent fall of Full Tilt Poker, Dwan’s whereabouts became a consistent mystery to the poker world. Over the last few years, Dwan has been seen in both Macau and Manila playing in high stakes cash games along with the occasional high roller tournament. The specifics of these games, however, are shrouded in hearsay.
The questions about Dwan and if he would ever return to live poker in the United States never ceased during his absence. Interestingly enough, Dwan was spotted by none other than Luke Vrabel in a Las Vegas Whole Foods store around this time last year.

Dwan remained under the radar until this March when he cashed in a Super High Roller event in Macau, earning $252,000.
Dwan’s whereabouts over the last few years may remain a mystery, but starting next Monday, he will be back in front of the cameras ready to play for an audience that has been waiting a long time to see him.
How to watch Tom Dwan on Poker After Dark?
Six years after “Poker After Dark” went off the air, it is back and some of its biggest stars return with it. All of the action will be live streamed on PokerGo. Three new lineups are on the marquee with Dwan listed on all of them. Some of the names to appear alongside Dwan next week are Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, and Doyle Brunson.

When “Poker After Dark” formally returns, it will be played inside Aria, the home of Super High Roller Bowl along with the WPT 500. The game will be live streamed on PokerGo starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on August 14 with additional streams taking place on Tuesday, August 15 and Wednesday, August 16 at the same time. The stakes are $200/$400 with a $400 button ante and a $100,000 minimum buy in required.
After nearly a month of waiting, Poker After Dark returned this week. Three days of cash game action was streamed exclusively on PokerGO and while the $200/$400 No Limit Hold’em sessions had a $100,000 minimum buy-in, that number never seemed to really matter. Each night’s game boasted big name players and the action seemed to get bigger and bigger, culminating with Wednesday’s massive “The Return of Tom Dwan” finale.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan’s return to televised poker headlined all three days of Poker After Dark action and the high stakes legend wasted no time getting into the action. On Monday night, Dwan beat Antonio Esfandiari in an over $700,000 pot, thanks to an aces versus kings cooler, and while he ended up as the session’s biggest winner, Daniel Negreanu and Jean-Robert Bellande were also in the thick of the action.
What Happened To Tom Dwan
JRB was front and center on Instagram throughout the debut of Poker After Dark. The high stakes regular was laughing and engaging with his fans and his counterparts at the table but during the second session, he was coolered by Dwan, pictured above, for one of the bigger pots of the night. That set-over-set encounter was one of the main reasons Dwan nearly finished with a seven-figure stack, which was the kind of arsenal Andrew Robl brought with him when he joined the action on Tuesday night.
Robl, pictured above, kept himself near that mark throughout his debut session and opened Wednesday’s finalewith another $1 million starting stack. By night’s end, the online prodigy turned high stakes crusher had run his stack up near $1.6 million but Robl wasn’t the only big winner. Matthew Kirk joined the lineup to replace Doyle Brunson and after cracking aces, “Aussie Matt” booked one of the biggest wins thus far on PAD and finished just shy of his own $1 million chip stack.
