Mourinho had to answer questions about Gareth Bale again as the Welshman played no part in Wednesday’s cup tie.
The Spurs boss issued a spiky response to a journalist following their defeat to Chelsea last week when asked about Bale’s playing time, but blamed a mystery muscle injury for Bale’s this time.
Spurs legend Clive Allen told talkSPORT: “You see [Mourinho] is losing his patience with Gareth.
“Everyone was excited when Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham, and Gareth’s body language was great as well.
“But it just hasn’t worked out. It’s not the Bale we knew; he hasn’t been able to find the consistency or form and hasn’t played enough minutes.”
